UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 18: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib today visited Panchayat Sansoo and interacted with local artisans associated with pottery making and bamboo crafts and listened to their issues and demands.
BDC President Udhampur Balwan Singh, district officers and Panchayat elected representative of Panchayat Sansoo, Kuldeep Sharma, as well as the general public were in attendance.
The DC sensitized artisans to the importance of being self-reliant and underlined the role of artisans in society.
She said the district administration is committed to providing market support to artisans and working for the promotion of local crafts.
Listing various centrally sponsored programs launched to help artisans, DC called on artisans to come forward and reap benefits such as modernizing links with the designs and tools market.
The local population and the craftsman projected several demands.
They complained about the lack of potable water supply and demanded the opening of a cutting and sewing center, upgrading from Magani middle school to high school, etc.
DC assured the public that all of their genuine requests will be given priority.
