This weekend, the rumor of the arrival of Pierre Gasly at Alpine F1 was accompanied by the noise evoking the arrival of Colton Herta in F1. It would seem that Red Bull have shown interest in the American replacing the Frenchman at AlphaTauri.

The transfer market is in full swing linked to the consequences of Oscar Piastri’s departure from McLaren, which the contract recognition office is probably due to register today.

Daniel Ricciardo and Mick Schumacher appeared to be the two favorites for the seat in blue, but Gasly could be a strong candidate, provided Red Bull releases him from his contract.

Herta is said to be a favorite of Helmut Marko and AlphaTauri, and it is said that his IndyCar contract with Andretti could be terminated if offered in F1. The 22-year-old driver therefore enters the game of musical chairs for the 2023 places.

The obstacle for Herta in F1 would currently be the Superlicense, which he does not hold. The American has 32 points out of the 40 necessary to obtain the precious sesame, and his position in the IndyCar championship does not allow him to claim it for the moment.

He would then have to hope for a derogation from the FIA, and his participation in free practice sessions 1 would also add a point per session, provided that he covers at least 100 kilometers and is not penalised.

If he manages to compete in several after the end of the IndyCar season, his total could thus approach 40 points, thus facilitating the dispensation to obtain the Superlicense.
