In a statement, team principal Mattia Binotto said: “We have a good team of people here who have become stronger and stronger, investing all their skills in this project and I am proud of them. “

“We met the challenges of this project with an innovative approach, because, in addition to the requirements of the brand new technical regulations, we believe that we had to approach this exercise with an open mind”, added Binotto.

The F1-75, which was recently seen at a demonstration in Fiorano, Italy, was named after Ferrari’s first production car, the 125 S. This car was produced 75 years.

Binotto said the company worked during the winter break on the car’s power unit.

“The drive unit that we worked on a lot during the winter season, not just all last year; we had to develop it because we know it will be a key element for the next seasons,” he explained.

He added: “So we’ve developed it in terms of a lot of innovation on the combustion engine, a lot of development on the hybrids that we brought in as a development last year in the season but additionally I think that there are many things that have been done.”

Binotto added that the team also worked on the suspension and the rear wing.

Ferrari drivers praise

Calling the 2021 season “great” for himself, Sainz, who finished fifth in the standings last season, said now was the time “to take the team to a different level, to take it to another step”.

“As drivers and team together we want more and more success in 2022 – so let’s go,” said the Spanish driver.

Commenting on the car’s design, Leclerc said: “I think I’ll like it even more if it’s fast on the track, but I love the look…I think it fits in perfectly.”

The Monegasque rider ranked seventh in the 2021 season.
